Go Web 2.0

A fellow Kaboodler posed the question: "What would your 3 favorite web 2.0 sites be?

  1. go2web20
  2. Streamy
  3. mydrawings.com[fun!]

btw... pretty good article here: http://www.profitpapers.com/dev/web-20-design-tutorials.php"

My response

The difficulty of the web 2.0 social networks, is that you can only belong to a couple - there is not enough time to "play" with them all.

Go2web2.0 is a great list! I used it when looking for the bookmarking service that best fit my needs. I think that this site is great, because it portrays the sites as tools, rather than just fun gimmicks. Also, the managers of the go2web2.0 are very responsive to consumer comments. For example, the didn't have "shopping" as a tag for Kaboodle. I told them and within 20 minutes it was up. (I have heard Kaboodle customer responses are fabulous as well.)

Streamy required a login, so, I don't even know what it is. I have issues with sites that don't let you preview what you are signing up for.

My drawings is fun. But it is more of time-suck than a reputable showcase of artwork. I am sure there are better ways for artists to get exposure. I do like their "map" for navigating the site though. That is soo web2.0.

Conclusion: As much as like fun things on the web, I look for ways to make my web experience more effective and efficient. That being said, I vote for go2web2.0.

Oh wait, I was supposed to tell you "my favorites", not analyze yours. Whoops.

Okay, I really like the "My Maps" feature on Google Maps. You can write detailing info about each place and then send the map to your friends. It is great when planning a vacation or when house/apartment-hunting.

Delicious is an amazing way to sync your bookmarks between computers and have the ability to view them when on someone else's. I group the tags into categories for easy retrieval.

FeedBlitz is offered on my new favorite blog. It emails me the latest posting. I really like it because I don't have to remember to go to the blog to check if it has been updated. And also, like so many other people, I can lose time surfing through a good blog. This way, I read it in my email and save time.
