DrupalCon Paris 2009: The Experience

I am home now and although I am pleased to be encompassed by those comforts, I truly miss the inspiring conversations and sense of camaraderie.  It is at conferences like these where words cannot describe what it is like to be surrounded by people who have such similar passions.  Every session offered new insight, a unique tip, or overwhelming wows.

I am now in the midst of the DrupalCon Blues.  My daily routine pales in comparisson to the constant flurry of a conference day.  And then the days turned into nights with more opporunities to make connections and learn.  By the end of the three main days, I had reached information overload.  Thankfully, I took really good notes and will be sharing those in subsequent posts.

From a non-technical perspective, I learned a lot about the people that make up the Drupal Community.  I finally had faces for screennames and realized that those who are Drupal celebrities are really just people too.

Interestingly, attending DrupalCon has given me a new found confidence.  At CommonPlaces, I am surrounded by a bunch of whizzes and am constantly collaborating with them for better approaches to problems.  But after attending a handfulful of session, I realized that in my few years as a Drupaller, I know more than I thought.  That is not to say that there is not room to expand the depth and breath of my knowledge, but I can hold my own.  After Chris's and my presentation on Staging Drupal, we both had a crowd of people looking to us for answers.  It was a wonderful feeling to be able to share.

I am looking forward to the next DruaplCon.  I expect nothing less than a fantastic experience.
